Steve Selby Kgatuke

Steve Selby Kgatuke was born on 9th June 1964 in Atteridgeville, Pretoria and matriculated in 1983 at Dr WF Nkomo School. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from the University of Cape Town (1987).

Steve gained experience in finance with Old Mutual, Deloitte and Touche and the Chamber of Mines before becoming an entrepreneur.

Steve is particularly interested in the following business areas:

  • Black Economic Empowerment
  • Business Strategy
  • Systems Thinking
  • Employment Equity
  • Project Management and
  • Financial Management

For recreation Steve likes to play chess and occasionally paints, using water colours as a medium.

Gordon Day

Gordon Day was born on the 10th of May 1962 in Ceres, Western Cape and has an Industrial Engineering background. He completed his studies at the University of Stellenbosch in 1985 and continued to further his academic qualifications by completing a Masters degree at the University of Pretoria (1991), a Diploma in Datametrics from Unisa (1991) and the Advanced Executive Programme at Unisa (1993).

Gordon is an expert on employment equity matters, with experience going back to 1991, when he was involved in the establishment of the Breakwater Monitor project at UCT. This was the first employment equity benchmarking initative in South Africa and eventually became the basis for statutory reporting requirements. He has assisted the Department of Labour on all aspects of implementation of the Employment Equity Act and continues to support the Department.

His particular field of interest is systems thinking and modelling, which has lead to the development of a number of innovative consulting products for clients. These include the development of business architecture models, assisting organisations with all aspects of Black Economic Empowerment, the development of human capital models and the implementation of employment equity.

Gordon travels extensively and is a keen amateur photographer. 

 

Thembekile Thelma Ngcobo (Non-Executive)

 

Thelma Ngcobo, a B.A. (Social Science) graduate from the University of the North, also holds a post-graduate diploma in management from the Wits Business School and has also participated in the prestigious Programme for Management Development (PMD) at Harvard Business School.  She is also a trained diplomat. 


Formerly a partner at TASA International, an Executive Search firm, which consults with management worldwide.  This firm specialised in identifying senior executive talent for an international portfolio of clients.  In addition, she was responsible for spearheading transformation programmes for same.  Prior to that she has held senior positions in marketing/marketing research for companies such as Ogilvy & Mather, BBDO, OK Bazaars with her last posting at JCI for eleven years with responsibility ranging from marketing, subsequently labour relations, and finally heading up the transformation programme of this mining house.  She was also the General Manager, HR for the South African Reserve Bank for five years, where she played a large role in the transformation of the Bank. She was also associated briefly with
the DTI and Alexander Forbes Financial Services as head of H.R.


She is on the Board of SC Johnson – an FMCG international family Company.  She is the founder and chairperson of Women Spearheading Investments (Pty) Limited a consortium of women from the clan.

Her family roots are in Kwa-Zulu Natal, oZwathini, where she is a descendant of the Nyuswa royal clan.  The Ndwedwe area(near Verulam) is  very poor  and lags behind in terms of development and access to facilities. Her vision is to direct social corporate activities to this area on education ,women empowerment and HIV as soon as we have the requisite resources . The entire village of KwaNodwengu will benefit and not the clan exclusively.
 In addition, the prayer women’s group of St John’s Apostolic Faith has also been identified as a a beneficiary.Under the leadership of Martha Lehlongwane their focus is child care.They have identified a crèche as  a pet project.


Apart from being a regular speaker at conferences, she is a coach and mentor to many as well as a guest lecturer at GMIT and GIBS on management. Therefore, development in line with ASGISA and  JIPSA resonates with her own approach to life.
